Hello, I’m TOMO
My name is Tomo, and I’m a nationally licensed tour guide based in Tokyo, leading private tours across Tokyo and its surrounding regions. Every place has a story. Before I share the stories of Japan with you, I’d like to share a little of my own.

My Story & Philosophy
Travel & Me
What does travel mean to you? To me, travel is one of life’s greatest enrichments. Some of my most treasured memories were made while traveling. As a student, I still remember the excitement of backpacking abroad on my own. Years later, traveling across Japan with my young daughter gave me a new appreciation for the joy of travel. The places, people, and moments I encountered have stayed with me ever since. I hope your journey through Japan becomes a memory that brings a smile whenever you look back on it. If I can play a part in creating such a journey, it would be my greatest pleasure.

Why I Became a Guide
Born and raised in Gunma, I spent 13 years working for a trading company before becoming a guide. Living and working in Tokyo, Germany, and Thailand exposed me to different cultures and perspectives. Looking at Japan from abroad helped me appreciate the beauty and richness of my own country in ways I never had before. When my daughter was born, that appreciation grew even stronger. I came to value the importance of passing Japan’s culture and traditions on to future generations, while also wanting to share its stories and values with people from around the world. I found my answer in guiding, and chose to become an independent guide.

My Guiding Philosophy
As a professional guide, I provide safe and comfortable tours in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Every tour is private and thoughtfully tailored to your interests, pace, and travel style. I see my role as a bridge between you and Japan. Rather than simply taking you from one sightseeing spot to another, I introduce you to the stories behind the places—the history, culture, and everyday life that give each place its meaning. Through these stories, you can experience Japan more deeply. I believe that when your experiences in Japan truly resonate with you, your journey stays with you long after it ends.
